AGE BASED CLUSTERS

j2j is an all-volunteer organization that organizes social activities for Jewish adults, married and single, over the age of 30. There are no membership fees—just the opportunity to meet, network, and make friends with fellow Jewish Austinites

FOOD/DINING

Enjoy trying new foods and learning how to make them? Join our Top Kosher Chef David Kogan as he leads this group at various food related events. Event ideas include, cooking classes and demonstrations to prepare for Jewish holidays, checking out various Austin restaurants, Challah for Hunger and a Jewish food cook-off!
What are Shabbat clusters?

Shabbat Clusters are groups of approximately 8-14 people (ages 21-39) who meet monthly for informal potluck Shabbat dinners in each other’s homes all over the Austin area. All participants who register for Shabbat clusters will be placed into groups that will meet for their first Shabbat on______________.

Are you ready to meet some new people and expand your Jewish horizons?

Clusters are encouraged to hold dinners monthly and even branch out to other activities… the sky is the limit! The clusters are shuffled twice a year, so this round is expected to run for approximately six months.

How do I join a Shabbat cluster?

Register online and then I’ll contact you in the coming weeks with your Shabbat cluster details.

While I recognize schedules are tight, please only register if you are truly interested in committing to be an active part of your cluster. The success of a cluster relies on your participation!

Please note: all participants must register separately. No guests will be allowed without the permission of the cluster host.

Why should I host the first Shabbat cluster dinner?

Each cluster will need a volunteer to host the first dinner. Hosts help coordinate the first dinner (usually hosted at their home, but other accommodations may be available), invite the group and help get the evening off and running.

We look forward to another exciting round of Shabbat clusters. If you are between the ages 21-35 and looking to meet others (singles or couples) in the Jewish community and get together on a monthly basis for Friday night dinner — this is for you! Feel free to dana.epstein@shalomaustin.org with questions.

RELIGIOUS/EDUCATIONAL

Torah on Tap is an opportunity to have an informal discussion on a Jewish topic of interest with one of the various clergy or Jewish educators in Austin. These discussions usually take place at a bar or coffee shop. This cluster is designed to help you get to know the many Jewish leaders in Austin and develop a greater understanding of Judaism and/or Jewish concerns. Ideas for discussion topics are always welcome!

SOCIAL/EVENTS

Monthly Coffee Klatch where we can drink coffee/tea and if you are hungry they have a great menu. So let's mingle on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Also, please bring a board game so we can have a bit of fun and interaction. Some suggestions: Mancala, Chess, Backgammon, UNO, etc. Bring any game you like.

Time: 10:00 AM - Noon

Location will be at Mozart's at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin. http://www.mozartscoffee.com/
This cluster will allow you social opportunities to meet new Jewish friends. These events are especially helpful when you are new to town and want to meet people! It's always a good time and we try to hit up a different venue each time! Also, if you are unable to be with family during the holidays we usually host a Break the Fast, Hannukah party, Passover Seder and a Purim celebration every year!

SPORTS/OUTDOORS

Mosaic is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to providing all Jews who love the outdoors with the chance to share activities with other Jews. We are part of a network of over 20 chapters nationwide. Visit our website for a calendar of upcoming events.

Join other Jewish Young Adults for some fresh air and outdoor adventure. We'll organize an activity once a month for you to enjoy in our beautiful Texas weather. Events will range from moonlit bike rides, picnics in the park, and paintball to camping overnights and Shabbat at Mt. Bonnell.

VOLUNTEERING

Do you want to volunteer your time every once in awhile and do it while meeting some new Jewish friends? Join this cluster to find opportunities to do so once a month around Austin and the Jewish community.

Clusters

Why Clusters?

Have you ever moved to a new city or town and not known where the best places to go out are or have someone to go with? Do you love college basketball and want to find some friends to go to games with? These are just some of the reasons GesherCity started Clusters. A Cluster is a group of 20-30 people based around a common interest or area of town, led by a volunteer Cluster Coordinator. If you don't see one you like, start your own Cluster!

Start A Cluster

Are you outgoing, responsible, and looking to meet people who share your interests? Start a Geshercity cluster! It’s a low time-commitment way to show your leadership skills and help other young adults meet & explore Austin. We will help you get started and all you need is an email address and the desire to meet others like yourself.
