ARTS AND CULTURE

A group of people who go to local Jewish and non-Jewish music events.

You may find yourself at a house concert listening to a Jewish-Gypsy Jazz band, or part of the local scene taking in some Folk/Rock. Something is bound to catch your fancy and expand your horizons, so come along!

CULTURAL/RELIGIOUS/EDUCATIONAL

An informal Shabbat Potluck
While it's nice to attend a certain Synagogue/Service however often you go, it's also nice to get a feel for what other communities have to offer. Some Synagogues are traditional, while others may be more engaging. In this cluster, you're likely to meet various Rabbis and Cantors along with a ton of different people. We can sing various tunes of Adon Olam and L'Chah Dodi! We can travel as a group to different parts of RI and always keep a changing scenery...perhaps you can figure out what Synagogue you may like the best! We'll do some Conservative, Reform, Chabad, Modern Orthodox, or even an impromptu Service at somebody's house...whatever you choose! We can always grab some dinner at a new restaurant around an area you may never have been to after Services.

NEIGHBORHOOD

Have you ever shown up at the dog park and it's just you and your dog? It's sort of anti-climactic after being tugged all the way there!

The Dog Parkers cluster gives you a way to be sure that when you show up at the dog park, others will be there too!

OUT REACH

New to Rhode Island? Looking to connect to Jewish organizations in our community? Trying to find other young families? From Women's Programs to Leadership Programs to Conferences and Family Programs, we can help connect you! Contact Karen Clarkson to learn more at kclarkson@JFRI.org or call her at 401.421.4111x148.

RELIGIOUS/EDUCATIONAL

This is a group of people to celebrate Jewish holidays together. Whether you're new to town or looking for a change from the family celebration, please join us! We'll try to have events about every month-ish (contingent, of course, on the holiday calendar). If you love schmoozing, fun, and holidays, this is the group for you.

SOCIAL

Were you in BBYO back in your high school days?...

Do you ever want to sit around an reminisce, or just catch up with old Alephs or BBGs?

...if so, this is the cluster for you. Hang out with old friends or meet people from different "eras" in your chapter or that have moved here from other regions. Go bowling, grab drinks, play a game of pickup basketball, shoot pool or hang at Dave and Busters, do it all.
The name pretty much says it all. Sit down with the GesherCity folks and battle it out in an assortment of games. Each month the host gets to chose the lineup of games. ...do you have what it takes?
Join your friends from GesherCity, or meet new friends, for a cocktail (or soft drink) or two at one of Rhode Island's many fine watering holes.
Description: Have you always wanted to learn how to play this game? Or are you a Mah Jong Maven looking for a group to play with on a weekly basis? This ancient and sometimes rowdy Chinese game has been around for centuries, and is back in style with young Jewish professional women. No experience or knowledge of the game is necessary. Please email Jamie Richman @ jamie.richman@gmail.com for details.
For those who have ever been interested in learning about and tasting wine, Wine Tasting promises to be both fun and educational. We'll talk about the basics of tasting, and then pop a few corks to put our knowledge to the test! We'll also take some field trips to area vineyards and local wine tastings. Join us if you're the least bit curious about wine, or if you just want an excuse to meet nice people and try something tasty.

SPORTS/GAMES

Join us for a season bowling with the Beth El Men’s bowling league. We meet every Thursday in Cranston and shmooze, nosh and bowl. It is a 100% handicapped league so all skill levels are welcome and encouraged. The league includes bowling every week plus a midyear and end of year banquet.

VOLUNTEERING

For those of you looking for a way to give back a little bit, this is your chance. Join non-profit organizations around Rhode Island for events that can change the world for the better. And, at the same time, meet people with a similar interest in helping the world.

Clusters

A Cluster is a group of individuals, led by a volunteer, or Cluster Coordinator, that gives you the opportunity to meet other people with similar interests in a welcoming environment. Clusters help people who are new to town, or new to the Jewish community meet others in a small, informal atmosphere.

Clusters are theme based - by geographic location, profession, hobby, general interest and so on. If a cluster that would interest you does not exist, then you can create one!

Be a Cluster Leader!

If you don't see a cluster that grabs you...start your own! We will help you get started and all you need is an email address and the desire to meet others like yourself.

Email me with the details.

Remember: You can join as many clusters as you'd like, and most clusters will not be limited to a maximum number of members. You also probably do not need to be a member of a cluster if you'd like to attend and event that interests you. Feel free to contact cluster coordinators with any questions about their cluster.
